NLC – EXECUTIVE TRAINING PROGRAM
Training and development activities are important for the growth of both employees and the organization. Trained employees are highly motivated to perform with greater efficiency and effectiveness. This in turn benefits the organization due to increase in growth, decrease in accidents wastage and improved productivity.
The Department of Management Studies has been instrumental in training Middle Level Executives of Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) as a part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the University and NLC. The department has to date trained 360 numbers of Middle Level Executives in 12 batches governing funds of about Rs.7, 20,000 lakhs for the university. The programme involved training the executives in various aspects of management such as Personality Development, Stress Management, Communication, Assertiveness, and Motivation and so on.
The programmes featured several eminent persons from various field as resources persons and they include Dr.Jeppiaar, Founder and Chancellor, Sathyabama University, Mr. T. N. Seshan, Mr. Radhakrishnan IPS, Dr.Reena Jebran and so on.
The programs were validated for their effectiveness both pre and post the training session and the results were found to be high on the score of effectiveness.
BHEL – GRADUATE ENGINEER TRAINEES
The Department of Management Studies has trained Graduate Engineer Trainnes (GETs) off – campus at BHEL, Trichy. Two faculty members of the department were deputed to train the GETs in two modules.
The organization wanted these two modules to be delivered using the case study approach. The faculty developed a one hour teaching module using power point presentation covering the entire syllabus of the modules. This was followed by explanation of how a case study is evaluated, by analyzing a case in the class. The GETs were then given four case studies which heeded to be analyzed and presented. A set of ten case studies on various topics of the module and a question paper comprising of 100 objective type questions with the answer key were handed over to the organization for administering at the end of their internship tenure. The faculty conducted these modules for two consecutive years helping to generate an income of Rs.45,000 for the Department.
